• Handpoke Technique •

Handpoke is a traditional method of tattooing - the technique involves using pre-sterilised needles by hand to deposit ink into the skin. The precision of handpoke causes less abrasion to the skin, so the tattoo heals quickly; usually 2/4 weeks, with larger, black or colour pieces leaning more towards six weeks. There will be some light scabbing in the first week of healing; as the tattoo ink settles over the following week's your skin will feel as it normally does.
I have specific aftercare advice I give to all clients, so you are aware of how best to look after your tattoo in the weeks after the appointment.

Here are a few frequently asked questions -

"does handpoke last/ will it fade over time/is it a real tattoo?"
• The answer is yes, Handpoke is a traditional method of tattooing. When Handpoke is applied by a professional artist, the result is the same as a tattoo made with a machine.

"Can I use bepanthen tattoo cream/vaseline to heal my tattoo?"
• Please no: Those types of creams are barrier creams and don't let the skin breathe and cause more harm than good. I advise using Butterluxxe tattoo aftercare products or raw whipped cacao butter/coconut oil. Avoid using fragranced lotions or products containing alcohol on the fresh tattoo. Sun lotion should only be applied once the tattoo is fully healed.

'What is the difference between Flash and Commission/Custom designs?"
• Flash designs are the pre-drawn designs I charge at a set size and price; I have a selection of these in my highlight section on Instagram. A Commission design is when a client briefs an idea/concept. I use the ideas/references provided to design something unique and original in my style. We work via email feedback until the design is perfect for you, with up to 3 edits. Please make sure to put as much detail as possible into the contact form. Any more edit requests/ major design changes will require a new deposit.
